Buckeyes!!! by Sophie

Last week our Daddy had knee surgery. The funny part was that he couldn’t go up and down stairs!
We made him his favorite- BUCKEYES, to cheer him up. Mom says they are just chocolate peanut butter balls with less chocolate. We love them both ways. Here’s our recipe.
1 Jar (40 oz) creamy PB
2 sticks butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 box/bag (16 oz) Powdered Sugar
***Soften butter first. Mix four ingredients together until smooth. Scoop into small balls. We use a melon ball scooper.
1 large bag Choc. Chips
1 stick Parafin Wax (found in baking isle)
Melt choc. chips and wax together to dip the PB Balls in. Place on wax paper and refrigerate.
**If you don’t have Parafin wax, then the chocolate is very thick. But you can still make them and just put the chocolate on the bottom. Makes enough for our family!
Keeps in fridge- not long because you eat them fast.
ENJOY
You must not have Grandma Martin’s “secret” ingredient in her recipe that makes them oh so much more than Chocolate Peanut butter balls! (: I’ll never tell….Hope he is healing well.
oooo do tell! is it honey????
Hi Sophie,
I used to make these but have not done so in years. If we ever get out to the store to get the ingredients, we are going to make them. We have had two blizzards within 5 days. You should see the snow here!
Love you, Terri
Hi, Sophie,
Thanks for the recipe – “Buckeyes” sound really good!
Did you know that I grew up in Ohio?
Thanks for photo of your dad on the stairs, too.
Miss Guyer
We should tell you that the original recipe calls for twice the amount of sugar. That makes them more thike a recees cup. We like it this way, just as yummy, less sugary, more peanutty!
We have also rolled them in crushed peanuts instead of chocolate. Great stress management (crushing the peanuts that is!!!)
