Bulls eye, Sean!! You have hit one of my hot buttons!

Family devotions led by Dad are not all that hard to do. The secret is to keep it short enough to keep their attention, talk about what you KNOW from your own walk with God, and ask THEM questions that involve their own lives in "hearing the Scriptures". Especially avoid using a "pulpit voice" (Thank you, Jan Karon). Never "make up Scripture", but ALWAYS feel free to use your imagination in "describing the scene".
Great Resources--besides the Bible !:
    > Keys for Kids from Children's Bible Hour
                               (www.cbhministries.org)
    > The God Hunt by David and Karen Mains
         (www.ivpress.com/cgi-ivpress/book.pl/code=3241)
    > Tree of Life bookstore in Canton, CT
    > Christian Book Distributors (www.christianbook.com)

A GREAT "family devotion" is for Dad to lay hands on each member of the family, starting with Mom, and pray a "blessing" specifically for the individual while everyone else listens and "agrees in their heart.

Watching God at work, in awe and wonder,
Ken Finn
